Applied AI Overview

We’re inundated with info about the huge impact machine learning and generative AI is having across industries, but how can the average small business or nonprofit benefit from this burgeoning technology? Well. I asked ChatGPT the following questions:

  1. How is AI impacting content marketing strategy?
  2. How can small businesses and nonprofits leverage generative AI in their content marketing?

In no time at all, ChapGPT outlined several key areas where AI can be extremely useful for small businesses. In addition, its answers aligned with other sources across the web, including fundraising consulting firm BWF, that asserts AI has various practical uses which support nonprofit marketing, such as the eight (8) outlined below:

1. Content Generation5. Marketing Automation
2. Prospect Identification6. Constituent Perception
3. Action Recommendations7. Donor Journey Mapping
4. Business simulation8. Simple Task Automation

The chatbot asserts that, for both small businesses and nonprofits alike, AI has the ability to determine audience segments, allowing you to send more targeted messaging that encourages viewers to convert.

I tested this theory by then asking ChatGPT to provide me with a list of target audiences for my own business (which I described in clear and realistic terms), and it was surprisingly successful, even *dare I say* intuitive.

In broad terms, AI is significantly impacting content marketing strategies by enhancing efficiency, personalization, and data-driven decision-making. So let’s dig in:

Here are 5 key areas where you can apply AI:

Content Creation and Curation:

  • AI tools can generate content such as blog posts, social media updates, and product descriptions, saving time and resources.
  • AI-driven curation tools help in sourcing and organizing content relevant to target audiences, ensuring a consistent flow of high-quality content.
  • Small businesses and nonprofits can use AI tools like ChatGPT or Jasper to create content efficiently, ensuring consistent output even with limited resources.

Personalization:

  • AI enables hyper-personalization by analyzing user data to deliver tailored content to individual users, improving engagement and conversion rates.
  • Implement AI tools that analyze customer data to deliver personalized content experiences, whether through personalized email campaigns, tailored website experiences and product recommendations, or targeted social media ads.

SEO and Content Optimization:

  • AI-powered SEO tools help optimize content by analyzing keywords, search intent, and competitive content, leading to better search engine rankings.
  • Use AI-driven tools like SurferSEO or Clearscope to optimize content for search engines, ensuring it reaches the right audience and ranks well.
  • Tools like AI-driven content audits can suggest improvements to existing content to align with current SEO best practices.

Data Analytics (Insights, Performance) and Strategy Refinement

  • AI can analyze vast amounts of data to provide insights into content performance, audience behavior, and market trends.
  • Predictive analytics can forecast future trends, allowing marketers to create content that resonates with their audience.
  • Use AI-powered analytics tools to regularly assess content performance and audience engagement. This data-driven approach can help refine strategies for better results.

Automation:

  • Tools like Hootsuite or Mailchimp, enhanced with AI capabilities, can schedule posts, segment audiences, and personalize content, making marketing efforts more effective and less time-consuming.
  • AI automates repetitive tasks like social media posting, email marketing, and reporting, freeing up time for strategy development and creative work.
  • AI-powered chatbots can be deployed on websites or social media platforms to engage with users in real-time, answer questions, and guide them through the customer journey.

Summary

By integrating AI into their content marketing strategies, small businesses and nonprofits can compete more effectively, improve efficiency, and create more personalized and impactful content. And, like it or not, the bots are here to stay — and that’s precisely what ChatGPT is … a chatbot.

So we’re all on the same page, ChatGPT isn’t really “AI,” according to http://www.techzone360.com:

“The AI that humans aim for is known as AGI – artificial intelligence with a human level of cognition – and this is something that has not been achieved yet. Certainly not with ChatGPT, which can only be described as “weak AI” – AI that can only function within its set parameters.”

I for one, find it a very useful tool. In fact, to test its capabilities, I used ChatGPT to write this blog post, which took the bulk of the work off my plate. I added a human touch while editing.
